I still remember the moment that India logged on to the call. Before we even started recording. She had a giant smile on her face and was so well-spoken. It was a first impression that I’ll never forget and a theme of our entire conversation. After the recording finished, I told her that if she was looking for a career after hockey, the media would be a fantastic fit for her.
So many aspects of India’s story stand out. From how she benefited from being a multi-sport athlete growing up to winning speech competitions and leading at every level of the game. Her confidence is matched only by her humility and gratitude for the people who have helped her achieve her goals.
Editing this episode, recorded before the 2026 PWHL Draft, reminded me how different and unique these stories are, and how important it is to share them. India McDadi is a name I knew before I hit that record button, and one I’ll never forget. She’s easy to root for, and our conversation echoes that in droves.
